FANCY NEIGHBOUR WASH UP & CARE POLICY
All hire items supplied by Fancy Neighbour are clean, hygienic, and ready for use at the time of delivery or collection. Please handle all items with care, particularly our vintage and delicate pieces.
Unless you’ve made alternative arrangements with us, we ask that items are hand washed (where required), dried, and repacked in the same manner they were received, ready for return.
All hire items must be kept protected from the elements at all times.
Items are not to be left outside overnight or exposed to wet, windy, or damp conditions. Damage caused by weather exposure (including water damage, rust, mould, or fading) will be treated as breakage or loss and charged accordingly.
Furniture and all hire items must be stored correctly and protected at all times, including during transport, setup, and after use.
Below are the care guidelines for each item type:
Linen
Napkins – Do not wash or iron napkins after use. Simply place all used napkins into the wash bag provided.
Tablecloths – Do not wash or iron tablecloths. Please shake off any food or debris before returning.
If there are significant stains, spills, or damage (including wax, rips, or burns) to any linen, please notify Fancy Neighbour as soon as possible.
In some cases, alternative cleaning or repair methods may apply.
Please note that if stains cannot be removed, or if linen is permanently damaged, the replacement cost may be deducted from the customer’s bond.
Cutlery
Please remove all food residue immediately after use to prevent staining, rusting, or damage.
Hand wash with mild detergent and dry thoroughly before returning cutlery to its container.
Glassware & Dinnerware
All glassware and dinnerware are dishwasher safe.
Please ensure items are dry before repacking.

Please remove all water and florals before return.
A quick rinse to remove residue is appreciated.

Crystalware

Tables & Chairs
Please fold and wipe down surfaces before return to ensure they are free from debris and moisture.
Furniture and all hire items must be stored correctly and protected at all times.
This includes keeping items undercover when not in use, avoiding exposure to direct sunlight, rain, dew, or high humidity.
Any water damage, mould, or fading will be treated as avoidable damage and charged accordingly.
DAMAGE, BREAKAGE & MISSING ITEMS
We understand that accidents can happen, but all items remain the property of Fancy Neighbour and must be returned in the same condition as received.
Any damage, breakage, or missing items will be charged at their replacement value.
Replacement costs will first be deducted from the customer’s bond.
If the cost of damage or loss exceeds the bond amount, the customer will be invoiced for the balance, payable within 7 days.
Bonds will be refunded within 7 days of the customer providing their bank account details, either in full or less any applicable deductions.
Refunds are made via bank transfer to the customer’s nominated account.
Weather damage (including water, rust, mould, or fading) will be considered avoidable and treated as item damage or loss.
Linen-Specific Damage
In the event of significant stains, wax marks, rips, burns, or other fabric damage to any of our linens, Fancy Neighbour must be notified as soon as possible.
Alternative care methods may be required for certain stains, and our team will handle these using professional cleaning processes.
If, despite our best efforts, the stain or damage cannot be removed or repaired, the item will be considered beyond repair and charged at its replacement value, deducted from the customer’s bond
